Fellow Lincolnton Band friends and family,
We have a new fundraising channel starting up, which also generates some rewards and at the same time lets us enjoy the wonderful outdoors of North & South Carolina!
On select days and times, we can volunteer to work at Carowinds to earn tax-free money that goes directly to Lincolnton Band Boosters. The park identifies specific shifts where they need additional workers, we sign up for those shifts and show up at the park at a designated time & place, they train us for that day's duty, we work the shift and the band gets a nice shiny check. The band also gets a free ticket to Carowinds for every two shifts worked, which can be used to reward band members and band boosters throughout the program.
The experience is fun, and is the most power-packed method for raising funds for the band, so please consider signing up to help. Lincolnton Band Boosters will receive $7.25/hr for each completed shift we work. Some of the activities we'll be doing are working in the season pass or ticket office, running a checkout station in a store or food venue, sweeping & trash pickup, etc.
Right now the shifts available are on Fridays now through the end of May, and soon additional dates and days of the week will open up (as they determine their regular employee hires for the summer). This Friday (5/4) the park has opened up an 8:45am - 6:00pm shift and an 11:00am - 7:30pm shift to get us in as soon as possible, if we have anyone available!
Volunteers must be 18 years old or older to participate in this program.
There are specific dress code and grooming guidelines, along with other information, that Rob Owen (roowen@gmail.com) will provide to you when you sign up to join this effort. Please email Rob to express your interest or to seek more information, especially if you are available this Friday.
Proceeds from the Carowinds fundraising will go to purchase much-needed equipment for the band in the 2012-2013 school year. Thank you for helping!

Rock-A-Thon *Jan 20-21, 2012
Thanks to everybody for participating and helping put on Rock-A-Thon 2012. We had 50 students rocking and at least a dozen parent as well as Mr. Benfield, Ms. Hoyle and Kenneth helping to make it a fun, safe and productive night. Thanks to DJ Dante & Dante-2 for keeping the tunes going all night and many thanks to all who donated drinks and goodies for break times. Chris, Terry, Noell & Ms. Hoyle did a great job organizing & serving our snacks...and cleaning up too.
A special thanks goes to Freedom Church for use of their facility and our sponsors who donated 36 fabulous prizes: City Lunch, The Tannery, O'Reilly Auto Parts, and Sonic. Thanks to Nicole for her work on obtaining our prizes too. Without the prizes we wouldn't have had the Fastest Rocker and Hands in the Air contests!
Please remember to thank all those who helped make last night a great success!
